Ghana’s highlife legend, Paapa Yankson could be the receiver of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Paapa Yankson, one of Ghana’s prolific highlife musicians, born on June 22, 1944 at Winneba, is known for highlife hits including Show Your Love, Wo Yere Anaa Wo Maame, Okukuseku, and Wiase Mu Nsem from about 15 albums from his over three decades in music. He has played with the Western Diamond Band, The Gold Nuggets Band and the Carousel Seven Band.

According to information gathered by www.entertainmentgh.com, the organizers of the 18th edition of the VGMA is most likely to award Benjamin Paapa Kofi Yankson the Lifetime Achievement Honour at the event.

The highlife veteran, now bound in a wheelchair, who put up a graceful performance from his wheel chair late last year, is expected to make an appearance at the main event of the VGMA, where he is expected to entertain guest to one or more tunes from his many hits.

According to www.entertainmentgh.com, it is also expected that, the organizers, Charterhouse Ghana, would put some spectacle on his honour – away from the usual norm of awarding Lifetime Achievers at the VGMA, which many critics have described as tepid.
