WONDER WOMAN CAUSES A STIR ON OPENING NIGHT

Warner Bros and DC Film, Wonder Woman had a very strong opening weekend by earning about $223m in cinemas globally. $100.5m came from the United States, making it the best American debut for a female-directed movie.

Patty Jenkins, director of the record making movie, becomes the record holder for the biggest opening by a female director in the US ahead of Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Fifty Shades of Grey.

Wonder Woman has proved popular with audiences and critics. The film has received an A rating from the audience survey firm CinemaScore, and currently holds a 93% rating on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.

Wonder Woman, which stars Gal Gadot, had an equally impressive opening in Ghana. Audience gave good reviews about the movie expressing much satisfaction about the story line and the director’s exploits on the topics of love and compassion.

With a good opening for Wonder Woman, Marvels fans now have their eyes on the Justice League, raising expectations for the movie.
